It may seem strange to purify water with a piece of charcoal, but the Japanese have been doing it for centuries.

Activated charcoal has been used for water purification in Japan since the Edo period (17th-19th century). It absorbs unwanted tastes and odours like chlorine, adds beneficial minerals to the water, and balances the pH. It can be used for up to 6 months.

Important: After 3 months of use, it is necessary to boil the charcoal for 10 minutes, after which it can be used for another 3 months.
