Five Unexpected Ideas for a Successful Spring Detox
Spring is in full swing! The sun is shining brightly, but some of us are tormented by the thought of the extra pounds accumulated during the winter season. Others have managed to maintain their summer figure but also need a lighter diet and a complete cleanse of their body.
Imagine giving your body a spring reset. Its functions need rest and refreshment, just like any other existing mechanism. To do this, we need to change some dietary and physical habits often practiced during the lazy winter season.
We offer five slightly unconventional steps to an easy and successful spring detox. We haven't mentioned water, but it's an indispensable helper always and at all times.
1. DON'T RESTRICT, ADD!
For many people, following a diet is a rather difficult task. This is no accident – complex processes in our brain use various minerals that influence our mood. Since food is an integral part of everyday life, it becomes a necessity but also an emotion. This is why it's so difficult to exclude certain foods from your diet. If you've reached such a phase, start by adding. Add extra salad to lunch, eat an apple with your afternoon snack. Gradually start consuming more fresh fruits and vegetables. The beneficial carbohydrates and fibers they contain will keep you full for longer, and you might just skip the cookies with your afternoon coffee.
2. TAKE THE RIGHT SUPPLEMENTS!
Supplements, in the form of vitamins and/or minerals, are extremely suitable for the spring season. They provide highly concentrated amounts of the exact substances our body needs. This doesn't mean that all vitamins and minerals on the market are "beneficial." The most important thing about a nutritional supplement is how it's synthesized and how pure its composition is. "Keep the natural as natural as it is! It's possible." This is the call of the Swiss pharmacist U. Schoenenberger (1901 –1981), founder of the Schoenenberger company, the most significant producer of freshly pressed plant juices. The advantage of this type of liquid supplement is its natural origin – 100% organic, without added sugars, alcohol, or preservatives. And for maximum results for the body's spring detox, Schoenenberger recommends the super trio – artichoke, dandelion, and nettle.
Artichoke juice is liquid gold. With its incredible purifying properties, it improves metabolism, melts fat, supports liver functions, and clears bad cholesterol.
Dandelion juice is known for its bitter active substances. It stimulates bile secretion from the gallbladder, thus stimulating digestion.
Nettle juice is excellent for blood purification and has an overall positive effect on skin cleansing. It is excellent for drainage and rich in minerals.
3. INCREASE PROTEIN INTAKE!
For meat-eaters, detox is synonymous with veganism or vegetarianism. Proteins are a major food group that helps us burn fat, build strong muscles, and maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails. However, this is not all. Did you know that protein deficiency can cause water retention in the body?
If you feel that you have overdone heavy meats in winter or do not consume any animal products at all, familiarize yourself with the various alternatives for obtaining protein. Legumes and seeds are an excellent source, and seafood will provide a solid amount of protein with almost no carbohydrates. Another option is plant-based protein powders, which have a higher concentration of amino acids per 100g product, which in turn contributes overall to better protein absorption in the daily diet.
4. PREPARE VEGETABLE BROTHS!
This is quite a clever way to achieve a feeling of fullness and consume more fluids. Mix various seasonal vegetables with aromatic spices, a little potato, pure unprocessed salt, and a few drops of olive oil, and boil until the solid vegetables soften. Use only the broth of the finished soup. You can drink as much as you want throughout the day. The broth will provide the body with vitamins and minerals from the vegetables and will give you a feeling of fullness between meals.
5. THINK ABOUT YOUR BODY!
We are used to looking at our body as a separate part of ourselves – the head as a head, the throat as a throat, but very rarely do we realize that every part of the body is part of a whole. This is the basis of holism – the mind, the body, and every part of it are one whole. Whatever we do, especially during more specific periods of the year like the change of seasons, should be in line with our overall well-being. Listen to your body – every discomfort or pain has its reason, and even if you think that something you do or don't do is good for you, you may be wrong. This mantra is especially important for changing your diet. Be open to different foods and detox and cleansing options, but always listen to your body's "advice." It is capable of "telling" what is and what is not good for it.
